Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the internet, including her self released single Bound. In 2015, she appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her create Rihanna reference. On the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 21st, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two songs, with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on September 5. Then on the 9th of November 2018 the singer released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13 the singer released two new singles, titled No One and Pdigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later made the track available in a solo version to her first album. The song was followed by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube within one week. As a support act, she toured in concert with 6LACK in December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
